Joaquin Zihautanejo (who appeared on appeared on HBO's Def Poetry Jam) hosts the Dallas Poetry Slam at the Backbeat Cafe (300 N Akard St) -inside the Mosaic Lofts in downtown Dallas.
Area poets can compete for a slot on the nationally ranked Dallas Slam Poetry Team. The winner will join three other poets to represent Dallas at the National Poetry Slam in St. Paul, Minn.
